Chapter 1.2- Shoot Em Dead

21 Jun

At first light Daniel wakes shivering and sore, but relieved to be alive.

He quickly gets dressed, packs up his sleeping bag, and gets ready to confront the day.

The first order of business is to scout out the area.

The first thing he sees in the emerging light is what appears to be an old garden shed. Upon inspection, Daniel finds it to be empty. He decides it would make a necessary, but poor hiding place.

He also finds something that worries him more. There had been a struggle here, and the carnage left over wasn’t pretty.

Then, something catches Daniel’s eye.

Whoever had lost this battle had dropped their gun. Daniel bends to pick it up.

With his new gun in hand, Daniel is already feeling more confident. Hungry, even.

Cautiously he makes his way down the quiet streets, until he comes across a small pond.

Because Daniel is a sim, we as observers frequently have to suspend our disbelief.

Daniel illustrates this fact here, when he pulls an expensive fishing rod out of nowhere and goes to town on those fish.

I think the only way this can be explained is that all sims have a Tardis/Mary Poppins back pocket sewn into their jeans, and that some god much more benevolent that I is responsible for stocking these pockets with various survival tools.

Daniel catches many unfortunately-sized fish, all of which are placed in the Mary Poppins pocket.

But Daniel is not Gollum, and he cannot eat these fish raw. He has to find something else to eat for now.

He is happy to find a bush of ripe tomatoes growing nearby.

He picks these while griping loudly about his hunger, and then consumes them whole.

Finally fed, he regains regard for his own safety. Far off on the bridge he spots a sinister figure lurking towards him with bloodlust in its eyes.

He runs off into this building. It turns out to be some sort of a bar.

Here he meets a fellow survivor who is impeccably dressed. They get to know each other and swap survival tips.

This dog tried to join the conversation, but that was just confusing for everybody involved. After putting itself back together, it runs off, presumably for a stiff drink.

For some reason, Daniel’s new friend had changed into a sweater. They talk about fishing, a handy skill during the apocalypse.

Daniel glances out the front door to see something menacing running towards them. He whips out his gun to shoot at the quickly approaching zombie.

While attempting to shoot over his new friend’s shoulder, Daniel accidentally shot him.

But the good news is, he killed the zombie too after a few shots. He’s not very experienced with guns.

It’s kind of a bummer that the gun doesn’t actually show a shooting animation, the people just kind of fall down and die after you shoot them. Also, zombies lose their zombie-ness when they die, which makes things weird.

But anyway, this ginger chick runs over as soon as all this went down. Daniel breathes a sigh of relief when he finds out she wasn’t the guy’s wife or friend or anything.

He takes off up the stairs to keep a watch for more zombies, utterly empty of remorse for what he’d done.

Okay maybe he felt bad, I dunno. I blame the adrenaline.

As he watches out the window, he sees some girl about to be attacked by zombies.

He has a bit of a thing for blondes, so he figures he might as well go save her. He shoots the zombie right as it was about to maul her.

But she turns out to be surprisingly ungrateful, and runs off as soon as he approached.

With more undead approaching, Daniel runs back to his shed. On the way he encounters all manner of nasty creatures.

Like this old biddy.

Two zombies head down the street right towards Daniel and his tiny shelter.

So he shoots em dead.

His little sim heart racing, Daniel bolts the rickety door shut behind himself.

And goes straight to sleep.

After some time, he is awoken by a scratching at his door. Nervously he peers through the cracks.

And finds that the visitor is quite friendly.

His collar says Roscoe, and when Daniel calls his name, the dog curls up next to him for the night.

Daniel and his new ally drift off to sleep.

Loving this so far! It’s the first zombie themed legacy I’ve seen and I think it is fantastic!

Hmmm, seems exciting. I’m sure there are some shooting animations or poses for pose/animation player.

There might be. My CC folder has my game so laggy already though that I’m hesitant to use poses. Maybe one day =)

OMG I love this! So amusing! I wasn’t expecting it to be more on the humorous side after reading the first chapter (not sure why… thinking about it now, there’s definitely hints of humor in the first chapter), but yeah… this is looking good and has great potential to end up in my list of favorite sim stories!

“Because Daniel is a sim, we as observers frequently have to suspend our disbelief.” – Tickled my funny bone. Right along with the part about him not being Gollum. Plus the mutilated dog (it bothers me so much when that happens) was just so errr… *facepalm*

Zombies, Sims and humor… well, what could go wrong? Again, loving this!

Haha! This really made me chuckle, especially the bit about the fishing rod XD I have introduced my husband to your story (he likes zombies) and he’s been chuckling all morning!
