Chapter 2.5- Guns Out

18 Oct

Screenshot-4

Time for some more Zombies and Yu! This morning Oscar is up way earlier than he needs to be, so I have him working on his cooking skill, because that’s always beneficial.

Here he appears to be at the part of the recipe which calls for cracking an egg directly onto sliced cucumbers.

Screenshot-5

And now to add the milk. This part is tricky, but Oscar seems to have it figured out.

Screenshot-6

Seriously sims? Pour raw wet ingredients onto vegetables, fry it up, and suddenly you have gourmet omelettes?

I can’t even argue with that logic.

Oscar eats up his magic omelettes and heads to work.

Screenshot-8

He rushes through the day and finishes up his tasks early so he can have extra time with Jemyn.

Oscar: Hey wittle cutie wutie poopy doopy doo!

Jemyn: Awww I missed my baby honey bunny bear!

Barf.

As the day of work comes to an end, Oscar’s friends and coworkers trickle upstairs into the common area to relax before they go home.

Screenshot-10

Oscar: I just wuv my wittle sweetie honey so so much!

Screenshot-11

Juan-Marco: Guys. Cut it out.

Jemyn: Not more than I love mine!

Juan-Marco: Seriously guys.

Oscar: Oh I don’t think so my precious treasure honey bear!!

Screenshot-13

Juan-Marco: Shut UP idiots! There’s something out there.

Screenshot-14

Juan-Marco stops and peers through the foggy door. His eyes go wide as he realizes that whatever is out there is looking right back at him.

Screenshot-15

Juan-Marco: GUNS OUT, BOYS!

The first figure in black pushes through the door, holding up a rifle.

Screenshot-16

Hearing the call, Nathan rushes out to help, tossing rifles to his friends.

Screenshot-17

Everyone goes deaf in the same instant that Nathan falls.

Screenshot-21

Instinctually, everyone with a gun ready shoots, peppering the first intruder. With the exit clear, they rush the door.

Screenshot-19

Velma: OUT, EVERYONE! KEEP YOUR WEAPONS UP!

Screenshot-27

Juan Marco takes the first step out and is immediately confronted with three more masked men.

Screenshot-25

Juan-Marco’s formal training serves him well as he is quick to shoot the first man in front of him. The others scatter and hide among the vehicles.

Screenshot-26

Velma: They went back there, somebody cover me!

Screenshot-29

She is followed by a new recruit as the rest of the group runs through the door.

Screenshot-33

Oscar stays behind to make sure everyone makes it out. All he can hear from outside is the sound of gunshots. He takes one last look at his fallen mentor before he hears Juan Marco call out.

Juan Marco: THIS WAY, FOLLOW ME!

Screenshot-35

He runs out, only to hear another of his friends yell to him.

Evarist: OSCAR, HELP!

Screenshot-37

To his left, Juan Marco and Jemyn have cleared a path out of the fight and are running to escape.

Oscar: Jemyn!!

Screenshot-39

Evarist: OSCAR, PLEASE!

Oscar takes one last look at the dark hair flash in the sun before it disappears around the corner. He runs right.

Screenshot-46

One of the men in black runs out from behind a truck, about to shoot. Oscar jumps out and shoots, and runs through the confusion to find his friends.

Screenshot-40

Velma: Watch behind us. We’re getting out of here.

Screenshot-42

She creeps slowly out from behind the last truck, to be met by a man in black doing the same thing.

Screenshot-48

But Velma is quicker, and the man falls.

Screenshot-45

Oscar looks back and sees the new recruit just as he shoots a guy on his tail.

Oscar: Hurry up, man!

Screenshot-50

Oscar watches as the young guy drops to the ground.

Screenshot-55

Velma: Come on, we’ve got to go now!

Screenshot-52

Oscar looks briefly across the street to see a group of zombies hungrily trying to find the source of the noise.

Screenshot-56

Without a second thought, he tears off through the fence with Evarist close behind.

Screenshot-58

Outside the fence, Evarist, Velma, and Oscar meet up and run past the poorly-rendered trailer.

Screenshot-61

They hear the sound of gunshots not far behind as they sprint for the bushes.

Screenshot-62

Finally they are hidden enough to stop and catch their breath. As their heart rates slow, they hear the din of gunshots slowly evolve into yelling, and then into the sound of vehicles driving away.

YAYYYYY! That was like, the hardest chapter ever to orchestrate. Like, I thought the beach scene with Daniel dying and all the zombies and army guys and shit was hard. This was way harder. It’s definitely funner to read about than it was to play. Soooo I hope you enjoyed reading it!

I JUST READ THIS AND OH MY GOD WHAT JUST HAPPENED?

Ok, so I’m going to read it all again, to actually process it all…

Phew, that was one hell of a chapter! You really got across that sense of panic, I spent the whole thing just willing Juan-Marco, Jemyn and the gang to survive! Still, it’s so sad that Nathan died, but I guess that’s to be expected in a zombie apocalypse 😦

It may have been difficult to write, but it was amazing to read as always, and I can’t wait to see where this twist will take them!

PS: Those guys in black were scary as hell! Reminded me of Jason Voorhees from Friday the 13th – creepy!
